Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

My nearest Homebase is reopening as The Range on Friday complete with temporary signs to cover the old Homebase branding, although they're using dual brand Range/Homebase Garden Centre branding.

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

There have been issues with Barclays since 0945 today. The app and online banking are intermittent with some payment transfers going through. It had taken me at least two hours to be able to transfer money from one account to the other and by that point I had accidently transferred double what I ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

While I still buy paper magazines, I only buy two on a regular basis and I have subs for both of them as it works out cheaper than going to WHSmith to buy them.

Women's weekly titles used to be a nice money spinner for the publishers and then the retailers like WHSmith, but they've also declined in ...

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board

If anything, at least the Newsroom Movers and Shakers thread actually had useful information with no bickering which was closed, yet the BBC News thread is a mess which I tend to avoid.

It's on a par with early GB News conversations which the mods did the right thing in moderating.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

We've already seen the issue of WHSmith closing stores with Post Office concessions that towns have been left without a replacement for months on end because it takes so long for another business to take on the franchise.

My nearest WHSmith is technically a High Street retail store, but is based ...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I popped into the refurbished Barclays Oxford Circus branch this month and they have some nice self-service interior ATMs now.

The touch screens are much larger and the resolution is much improved which are more responsive. The older ones at TCR you had to really press hard on the screen.

He shows his luddite ways when discussing Freely. He may well be a great tv set engineer in the past, but doesn't reflect the reality of now.

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Refurbs have been locally the kiss of death for Barclays branches. The two that used to be near to me got refurbs and then put on the closure list. One is now a Screwfix and the other is a dentist.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I can see the London Homebase stores becoming The Range as they only have 5 stores either within the M25 with one just outside it at Lakeside.

Homebase have 13 stores within the M25.
