Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

I got very anxious and upset yesterday. I need to limit my exposure to the news and social media, which I already do, but even more so now. I completely understand where you're coming from on that one. It's been a hard slog since the Brexit process where being a tv pres enthusiast and a news geek h...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

Sainsbury's haven't updated their POS to stop people buying more than the limit, I saw a woman buy five Carex hand soaps this afternoon.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

No fruit at all in my large Sainsbury's today, but popped into the Local store and there was plenty of fresh fruit.

All cinemas (it seems) closing in the next 24 hours. Odeon already closed. Cineworld thought to be at risk of defaulting on their loans.
Which would be bad news for Picturehouse, which have rejuvenated old buildings into cinemas, including my area. They close tomorrow until further notice.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

The restrictions on certain products are clearly not working. Sainsbury's for example have a limit on toilet rolls to 6 packs, however there are people buying 6 packs of 9/16 rolls. As soon as produce is on the shelves, it's being cleared in a very short period of time.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

I'm guilty of the one more than usual at the moment. Otherwise, I'm still doing my normal activities, still able to travel and have appointments on Monday which haven't been cancelled, so until I either have flu-like symptoms or are enforced to stay at home, it's business as largely usual except for...

Re: Intu takeover called off

Lakeside in Essex used to be one of the best shopping centres in the South East, then a combination of intu and rival Bluewater in Kent came along and it's nowhere as good as it used to be. It was a real destination to go to from London. Londoners now use the two Westfield centres in White City and ...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Which banks still use foreign call centres? Barclays who my mother banks with still uses them and the call centre operatives were very hard to understand for someone who's used to speaking to foreign call centre operatives to resolve an issue. In the end, my mother gave me permission to access her ...
