Re: Dale Farm

The source of the problem is that they have built on greenbelt land without planning permission. On this aspect I agree with the view that planning laws should be upheld for everyone, regardless of whether they are travellers. That said with the reported cost potentially being up to £18 million I ca...

Re: Is the Scottish Express even worse than the Mail?

Is it just me that doesn't understand why the press isn't regulated by (or at least subject to the same standards as set down by) OFCOM? I've always been of the position (I might have mentioned already!) that seeing something nasty printed about you or someone you're close to is far worse than it b...

Re: Murdoch's web policy

I think a reasonable compromise would be, as has been mentioned, to allow google to gather the stories (headlines and opening paragraphs at least), and then flag them as subscription required. Then his material will be there for people to elect to pay extra for it, or not. But his plan to deny goog...

Re: Is the Scottish Express even worse than the Mail?

Yes, although its not a million miles from stories of "punks" tying fireworks to cats tails and setting them off when I was a youngster. I guarantee I am less old than the editors of the Express, so why would they feel the need to say, "What's happening to our country?", as though thuggishness is a...

Re: Is the Scottish Express even worse than the Mail?

Talking of tabloids, here is today's Daily Express. It's a classic. http://up.metropol247.co.uk/Chie/15421626.jpg It seems to me it's partly a case of tabloids playing a game of Chinese whispers (also know as 'lazy journalism'), where they initially get their information from each other, instead of...

Re: The Official Windows 7 Thread

Is anyone else noticing a pattern here? Every other Windows release seems to be good, with all the other ones being the famous anagram of carp. The various versions of Windows 3 were pretty good. 95 was pretty dreadful. 98 was good and lasted well. ME/2000 was another bad one. XP was pretty damn fa...

Re: Are the Tories finished before they start?

The Conservative party could do with banning him from appearing on HIGNFY (unless he's planning to become the next London mayor). In past appearances he's joked about the expense system being great before having to u-turn a couple weeks later. Also lets not forget he said "If you read that Miss Cali...
