Re: Cashzone ATMs

Note Machine's UX is appalling. You'd think these things would be easy to get right by now. When they first took over the ex-Co-operative Bank ATMs in Co-op stores they had the worst UI - it's since been updated to match their other ATMs. My best guess is that those ATMs are Wincor Nixdorf and so t...

Re: Beard trimmers

I really like the Philips OneShave - not as adjustable as a proper beard trimmer but a lot nicer on the skin and also doubles as a shaver.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I've never understood why the Intu brand is so prominent - it adds nothing. It's not like their shopping centres are similar in any way, and because they're so spread out it's not like making the generic Intu brand enticing is going to attract people more than just advertising the Trafford Centre wo...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I keep seeing the 90s cloverleaf logo on those screens. I presume it appears as some kind of fallback. There's a little square space next to the purchase info on the Co-op till screens - I remember when they were installed (around 2006-7 at a guess) they had the 90s cloverleaf logo there - very sho...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Co-op seem to be replacing their existing IBM cash registers with Wincor Nixdorf ones, with a similar screen facing the customer with purchase information and advertising. They look a lot more modern but for now at least they seem to be running the same software - as the on-screen graphics are ident...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I didn't go to the trouble of starting a Sainsbury's thread in 2011 for you all to post about Sainsbury's in the Tesco thread  That would have necessitated my Tesco post being in your Sainsbury's thread though. Maybe we need all petrol station branding talk to have its own thread. That would ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

They still listed LRP as four star at a lot of petrol stations for a while (thougthey did still have LRP next to them on the signs). Not that I've seen even that on sale anywhere for about 10 years either. In fact the Sainsbury's petrol station here was I think the last place I remember still selli...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

My favourite oddball sign is this one at Meadowhall near Sheffield: https://up.metropol247.co.uk/woah/thumbs/Sainsbury.jpg There can't be many petrol stations left that still say Four Star on the totem, it's been off sale for coming on 18 years. It also dates this totem pretty well since Four Star w...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

He's advertising the AA now. I thought that was the Tina Turner toddler? We do seem to be blessed with some particularly stupid advertising on TV at the moment. I find the Oral-B TV ads especially excruciating, about as subtle as an axe in their desperate attempt to pander to the "young healthy tre...

I notice Ben Miller and his annoying wife are back. I hadn't seen them for a while so I'd assumed Tesco had ditched them. No such luck.
It's a shame after the quite nice "Food Love Stories" series of adverts which hopefully haven't gone. Still at least the stupid son hasn't returned.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

So does anyone else have these awful new self checkouts? My nearest branch had old wide v4 checkouts until recently which I used to wish they would replace as they were torturously slow. These new ones, v6 I think, have a completely different interface, which is nowhere near as clear and easy to un...
