Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

There was some expansion work going which started pre-Covid to turn some of the car park into more retail space. I wonder if it'll be some sort of ghost mail for a few years, given how many empty units there are, especially down the John Lewis end.

I'm pretty sure they've canned that extension ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

An awful lot of shops have closed over the last month in (a still endlessly busy) Westfield Stratford. Lakeland, Currys, Victoria's Secret, Indulge Beauty, some luggage shop, Swatch, HSBC, an independent clothes shop, a probably dodgy American Candy shop and a few others I will have forgotten have ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

The Sunday Trading Act would be one of my first things to dispose of when I take over.

I'm still amazed there wasn't ever even a suggestion (that I can remember) of suspending it at least temporarily during the worst of Covid. Given the amount of queues outside of supermarkets, and the need for ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I should maybe add that this one is a Local, albeit apparently one that's over 3000 sq ft, because it's only open for 6 hours on a Sunday.

This is the new one in East Village, yes? It's very annoying that they've decided to make it just large enough to close at 5pm on Sundays.

It does have a ...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Just came back from Morrison's before by god are the stores in a shocking state lately as if maintenance just isn't happening and it's not just one store either, they're all as bad as each other locally ie. Buckets in the aisles collecting water from leaking roofs, whole aisles of fridges broken ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

In M&S [Simply] Food (travel) stores news, I noticed one of the St. Pancras ones now has a small selection of clothing and just has the M&S logo over the door rather than food. I don't know if this means it's not run by SSP as all other railway station locations are?

I would assume it's M&S ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

A new one for me yesterday, a small M&S Food/WHSmith hybrid on Tottenham Court Road. Didn't go in but from the outside it looked like the sort of thing you'd get in a hospital or service station. It's pretty close to a larger M&S Food and isn't coming up on Google Maps so I assume it's only just ...

I think gottago is talking about something other than the panel for a member of staff to do stuff remotely

I used the self serve tills in Tesco Express Soho to buy some alcohol the other day and found that my age verification was immediately approved by a staff member at a central controller ...

I used the self serve tills in Tesco Express Soho to buy some alcohol the other day and found that my age verification was immediately approved by a staff member at a central controller using the CCTV attached to my till. Has anyone ever had this elsewhere? I assumed the cameras would just be for ...

Re: TV Live Forum Watch News and Information Board

I know he's always been irritating but I'm finding myself dreading wasting a click on a thread where the last post is Roger's as more often than not it will be a short, inane comment or him thanking someone for something not worthy of thanks. He really has gone overboard with it over the last few ...
