Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

After that chatter about what would happen to a fancy new Argos in a power cut, all of the iPads in my local branch were down today for some reason. Their solution was to stick a laminated catalogue on each desk, so about four for the whole store, and bring back the pen and paper slips. It was quick...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Carpet Right Clapham has a very modern new logo, well compared to their ancient branding. Can't find it on their website though.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I assume it's not just my local Aldi that operates the "scan everything as quickly as possible so you have to bag it afterwards" policy? It's company wide policy for both Lidl and Aldi. That's why there's so little space to bag everything up at the end and it's shaped in a way to fit your trolley i...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

My main Argos store is already one of those, no pens or books etc. If there was every a power cuts there be ...... A power cut wouldn't affect the tablets, they use a rechargeable battery like a mobile phone does. And a power cut would result in ANY shop closing, because the checkouts wouldn't be w...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I found the mother of all Tesco concept stores yesterday in London's Charing Cross. It's a small unit that specialises in lunch time meal deals on one wall and hot food on the other. But get this, the back wall is home to a freaking burrito counter! As in a proper Chipotle operation. The shop was ju...

Thrilling video. The men's toilets over his left shoulder makes it a really compelling watch.

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

I wonder if Morrisons have considered ditching the marketing agency responsible for their awful ad campaigns. They've sponsored quite a few big ITV entertainment shows but all their stings are bloody horrible. I can't believe they've brought back their patronising Britain's Got Talent campaign where...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

I think the Discount UK brand is getting phased out. The Hull branch has closed for a refit and reopens on Friday under a new name, Bargain Buys. The sign was missing today, revealing Woolworths lettering behind it. They were the previous occupants. Yep - http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/companies/bargai...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

The Argos at the end of my road is one of those fancy iPad extravaganzas and the ordering works fine but they really haven't thought through the collection part. There's no longer a collection number or time on your receipt and you now sort of awkwardly walk forward up through the crowd, one of the ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

Interesting to see Mirror Bingo celebrate its role in the decline of the bingo industry by featuring a bingo caller walking out into an empty hall and declaring "where has my career gone?" in their latest advert. Also this whole superfast broadband campaign at the moment has to be the most useless g...
