Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
They're fitting out a new Sainsbury's Local between Shoreditch and Liverpool St, or at least I think it should be a Local as it seems to have no depth, but the signs in the windows so far are suggesting it's just "Sainsbury's". Possible phasing out of the Local brand? It did make me wonder if ...

Well, they've certainly given it a hell of a good go with gamblegate (if that's what it's known as).gottago wrote: Fri 07 Jun, 2024 14.37 There's four more weeks but surely, surely it can't get worse than this?!

Re: There an election this year.....
D Day has got to be Sunak's "bigoted woman" moment right? An absolutely extraordinary own goal of monumental proportions. That image of Cameron with three actual current world leaders is quite something. There's four more weeks but surely, surely it can't get worse than this?!

Just seen this on Reddit, the government's view on why National Service would be a very bad idea from just three days ago.

Re: There an election this year.....
I think part of the reason its been called now is because of the recent announcement that inflation has fallen to 2.3%, which was the higher end of where they wanted it to be anyway.
Was it though? It was still a lower drop than expected. Is it not more the fact that continuously extremely high ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread
I had a "new" Big Mac the other day and found it to be slightly worse than it previously was. Not much worse, but a bit. I possibly wouldn't have noticed had I not specifically gone to try what they've been advertising so much.
It feels like there's something a bit more to it. They talked in the ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
I'm getting distinct vibes of that time eons ago where Pizza Hut rebranded a small number of their stores to Pasta Hut. Which was definitely a permanent plan and not just someone in marketing had calculated the cost of replacing a few shop signs for a few months was a much cheaper way to get lots ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
What we need is essentially a ticketing system that runs like The Trainline
The Trainline is the model?!?! You want to pay a booking fee on a bloody rail ticket?
I expect he was referring to the vastly superior user experience it offers.
And of course, there's no booking fees if you buy ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
The closure of ticket offices is causing a furore near me at the moment. Where I live, all ticket offices on my local trainline, with the exception of Liverpool Lime Street, and St Helens Central, are going to be closed, and stations are going to be staffed 2 hours a day, except on Sundays. While ...

Re: E-bike rental
Went to Berlin recently and used the Lime e-scooters to get around some of it. They were *fun* although I guess we’re not allowed them everywhere here because all the boomers will complain. Seen they do them in specific locations although I didn’t see any when I was in London a few weeks back ...
