Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Some fantastic footage here uploaded today by the BBC Archive:

It's funny how those shots of Boots and H. Samuel could have been filmed yesterday, really shows how little has changed in 55 years, and how dated their shops look today.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

This probably belongs in the other thread, but the Claire's shop in Chesterfield is seriously stuck in the late 90's.

But seriously though, it just seems like they sell overpriced tat to me. I understand they are targeting a certain demographic but I am not exactly sure whom. I highly doubt kids ...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

But, most importantly, little old bits of Sainsbury’s design keep getting exposed as they refurbish things, including some lovely orange and white subway tiles that have been revealed when peeling back a fake wall. I’m sure they’ll be covered up again by some shelving in a couple of days, but ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

That Luzozade ad that seems to have been on for way too long now drives me insane. I have to press mute when it comes on.

Wow, this is certainly not what I expected. Some of this stuff actually looks quite nice. That Driscoll's display though is like going back in time with the artificial plants.

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

I've noticed a few stores have started to get very utilitarian metal displays for produce. On first sight I thought they were left over from the 'misted veg' era but I'm pretty sure they're new.

One of those stores had a self service order terminal for the Pizza Counter, not unlike the ones they ...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Found this on Reddit:

"From a company email -

We’re proud of Market Street and the part it plays in our customers' experience, and we know it’s one of the reasons customers choose to shop with us.

As customers' shopping habits continue to change, so will the way we set up and run Market Street to ...

Re: Old supermarket signage

Somebody recently uploaded this 'urban exploration' type video of the old Wilko building in Sheffield:

https://youtu.be/iN68tfieP9g?t=2488

A lot of the stuff is still left inside (old shop fittings, office furniture etc.) At around 41 minutes in, in an upstairs store room there is the old ...

Re: Old supermarket signage

Going back to the topic of Little Chef, the Markham Moor North store near Retford was split in half in 2014 to make the right hand side into a Subway, which only closed last year. When they removed the Subway signage the original red paintwork was exposed. The left side, which is now a KFC, still ...
