Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
The Tesco ones with the new software I have seen the message, but in my experience in Waitrose and Sainsbury's the paper has just run short mid way through the receipt and left me with part of one, or none at all. Or jammed one. So maybe it's down to the config of the machine or whether they've ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
Recently I had a till receipt in Sainsbury's that decided not to print out the bar code, so had to wait for the checkout assistant to let me out.
My experiences of the exit gates are usually good, but there have been times where the barcode scanners simply don't read them or they've had to take ...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
I'm not sure if it's happening to other Barclays' branches outside Central London, but the Oxford Circus branch is extending their opening hours from April 7th from 9.30am-4.30pm on weekdays, which resembles pre-Covid opening hours.
Perhaps they realised they've cut too many branches in Central ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region
So yeah, it's kinda nifty. But. This is not how you simplify things. Make the fares easier to understand in the first place. Let people tap in and out with their bank card - or if they don't want to do that, with a stored value on an ITSO smartcard.

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
I think that supermarkets need to find the balance between preventing loss and not making customers feel as if they're all being treated as potential shoplifters. Measures such as scanning a barcode on a receipt to exit the payment area and the giant trolley scales being trialled are more likely to ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Is there any brand equity in Homebase? For me it always reminds me of what was a good DIY chain in the 90s ruined by buyouts and private equity. And towards the end of its days was rather overpriced and didn't know what it was doing.

Re: Old supermarket signage
The blue and white aisle singage in the 1995 video is ALMOST right, but it was one long continuous strip the whole width of the store rather than broken into sections as it is here.
The 1999 section also has the old logo on the carrier bags. That logo did hang around on carrier bags for a couple ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
The Sainsbury's and Starbucks team isn't a new thing, my local Sainsbury's has had once since it opened in 2001.
It's a bit grim that all of the cafes are likely to be come Starbucks/Costa, for what it's worth the previous cafes wouldn't charge upwards of £5 for a drink. Certainly, Starbucks for me ...

Re: Does this background music in this Morrisons advert have a name?
Would hazard a guess that it is either library or specially composed and therefore not commercially available.

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
Doesn't make sense why they'd spend money refurbing the branch and then closing it?
i do wonder what is in store for HSBC's digital branches. They've pledged not to close anything until 2026, however, I can't help but feel the hacking back of costs and shutting the counterwill have put them on the ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread
Coincidentally, I spotted today that my local Morrisons has changed its hot food counters from serve-over counters to self-service heated cabinets, to match the pasty counter.
My local one has done this too, cost saving measure perhaps? As in they won't need a dedicated member of staff behind ...
