Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

They should've done what Santander did, and closed some branches after they took over Birthdays. In Hull, there was a Bradford and Bingley right opposite an Alliance & Leicester, with an Abbey a couple of streets away. Though all three were initially rebranded as Santander after they bought B&a...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Our local Tesco is having a bit of a makeover. The cafe has been shrouded in white hoarding for a good few weeks, so they must be doing something quite big. I really do hope in this refit that somebody replaces the damn toner cartridges in the printers throughout the store. They seem adept at printi...

Re: The end of the line for fixed line broadband?

Mobile broadband is no good if you want anything other than a 'dumb pipe'. Try finding one which offers a load of static IPs, no filtering/port blocks etc.

Re: Digital Spy Watch News and Information Board

Some 'interesting' insights by Invent Meridian about his dingus: I tend to not use urinals because my 'coke', as I call it, is very sensitive. Therefore I have to use a water closet in case it decides to have 'giant coke syndrome'. I have the same trouble driving my car, the bumps in the road and th...

Re: Trains in the UK

Oh I dunno -- I reckon paying a quid to go from Cardiff - London on a coach in 3 hours is pretty good. I don't know whether you were being facetious Alexia but certainly the £1 seats will be sold at a loss. Peak time fares are rather ridiculous - all very well trying to encourage people to travel o...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

It's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that HMV may go under, given their gloomy statements that they'd announced a few weeks back. Certainly the HMV branches I've been in have been rammed, but maybe that's because they were central London ones, and it was a few days until Christmas? A ...

Littlewoods advert

It just about sums up what is wrong with this country, rampant commercialism at Christmas amongst younger people in society.

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

I did for a while think that TT was just someone on a wind-up, but from what I have read this evening, it's seeming less unlikely. As I had nothing better to do with my life this evening I decided to take a look at some of his postings on the rollercoaster forum and I was just screaming 'aaaarrgh' i...

Don't have a lot of love for the Littlewoods advert currently out, ugh, singing children.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

My local Extra is getting a mini refit, and a few licks of paint here and there, nothing major I can see. The problem is, on some stuff is availability is pants, especially on the lines which are on special offer. Twice this week I have been to the same store, at different times (first late in the a...

Re: Richard Stallman aka Tumble Tower

His rider makes Lady Gaga look ridiculously undiva-ish.

I have to ask what century he is living in, when he speaks of using SSH terminals and not using internet browsers, not receiving files larger than 100k and receiving everything in 'plain ASCII text'.
