Re: Strange shops in your area

That aside, York doesn't have what I'd regard as "strange" shops, it has lots of nice second-hand bookshops, vintage clothing specialists and charity shop, again some of these are on my street. What I'd regard as strange is that there's only one independent music retailer/record shop left in the ...

Re: New iPod Nano

Also, if it was the size of, let's say the 3rd Generation Nano, all screen of course, it would have been much better.

True, I have a 3rd generation nano at the moment and although I've never watched video on it, I can imagine the screen size being ideal for a little multitouch iPod, and it would ...

Re: New iPod Nano

You didn't mention that the prices have stayed the same too, so now the nano seems to be nothing more than an upseller to the iPod touch, which has gained the video camera, the same Retina Display (gah) as the iPhone 4 along with the A4 processor.

The new shuffle and touch will sell like hotcakes ...

Re: what's your poison?

I'm a big fan of Black Sheep ale, as well as pale ales. Blonde Bombshell from Old Mill Brewery and Guzzler from York Brewery being two of my current favourites.

Re: Help me find a Freeview box that doesn't die after a yea

They're still making Freeview boxes, but they're branded as Philips boxes now, usually with a 'Designed by Pace' logo on the box.

EDIT: Aha, beaten to it.

I've always like the North Yorkshire County Council logo, having grown up with it. No idea how long it's been around though.

Re: Did you know anybody who was murdered?

Two sisters were killed in a flat directly behind my house a few years back. The killer, Mark Hobson, became Britain's most wanted man for a while.

Re: Film

Thanks for clearing that up, I have only ever imagined Cinema's using reels of film in the olden days, but obviously not, very old fashioned and out of place in our world of Blu-Ray and HD I think.

Not really, the resolution of film far exceeds that of Blu-ray and HDTV. Not quite sure what the ...

Re: Happy Pancake Day

I keep passing large POS display merchandisers for Betty Crocker's pancake mix.

Its like a half filled jug with a pre-mixed powder batter. Just add water and shake.

I've noticed it almost only men who are looking at it though.

How peculiar.

I actually had some pancakes tonight made from that ...

It's an MP4 version iIRC, like iPhone/iPad/iPod iPlayer.
So it's a separate 'app' you have to buy rather than just a case of going to the youtube site?
It's a separate app, but it comes pre-loaded on the device.

Re: Norton 360 v3: even protects your computer whilst it's o

I had a brief stint at Currys.digital last Christmas.
At the time, I think it was £3 for selling Norton with a laptop, and £10 if you flogged Word with it as well.
I was more of a warehouse person though so was glad not to be on the floor much (meant I had no ridiculous sales targets!)

They really ...
