Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Those posters mention a "checkout card" too, a precursor to the clubcard?

Can't find any info on it, but have found a photo of a carrier bag promoting it:

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

That store being an Express is likely a side effect of all those sort of stores becoming Metros in the 90s and 00s, then all the Metros being folded into expresses in the last few years. The one in the Victoria Centre in Nottingham is another former Metro that feels far too big to be an Express as ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

The one near me says Est. 2006, but it's technically incorrect as there's been a store there since 1980 (though it was demolished and rebuilt in 06- though the petrol station dates to 1996).

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board

At least it's not like DS where people have been blaming the sackings on "woke" and "you can't say or do anything any more". The thread on John Torode had been HEAVILY pruned this morning.

The good old pre-woke days when you could be a racist or a sexual pest without consequences, eh?

Re: Windows 9 is now Windows 10

The obvious issue with people not moving over this time compared when previous versions went end of life is the ridiculous hardware restrictions that Microsoft put on Windows 11, meaning many people can't upgrade to 11, even if they want to, even when their computers aren't particularly old and they ...

This has actually disgsuted me... seriously considering resigning my Labour party membership

Really feels like he's trying too hard to win back the Reform crowd without thinking about how it's alienating everyone else.

Re: What's going on with all this gender stuff?

What has helped the Gender Critical movement substantially is that they have a major ally in author J.K. Rowling who was believed to have bankrolled For Women Scotland's appeal against the Scottish Government.

She genuinely makes me feel sick, I've been unable to watch or read anything Harry ...

Re: Old supermarket signage

That red Woolworth's sign is from a LOT later, from the mid-late 00s, literally the last few years of Woolie's life, I think that style came in around 2003/4. Before then, they were individual letters rather than a single sign, like this:
