Re: The Technology Thread

We had a bunch of systems at work affected, but the early shift had them all sorted before most people arrived in the building.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Spotted the forward-facing horse on a billboard outside Blackhorse Road tube today, and kudos to the ad buyers for the placement.

Re: There an election this year.....

I've not seen any detailed analysis of this yet, but in my constituency (and a random sample of other London seats I've looked at) it seems that the Greens were the protest voice of choice - miles behind Labour but comfortably ahead of anyone else. The exceptions seem to be the ones where there were...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

They're fitting out a new Sainsbury's Local between Shoreditch and Liverpool St, or at least I think it should be a Local as it seems to have no depth, but the signs in the windows so far are suggesting it's just "Sainsbury's". Possible phasing out of the Local brand? It did make me wonde...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

News from my local store: https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2024/06/asda-bans-granny-trolleys/ They've recently installed a bit of a one-way system, with permanent fencing leading from the wind lobby to the entry gates. It does make it a bit awkward if you just need to go to the pharmacy or the p...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

I'm having flashbacks to when Morrisons took over Safeway, and brought with them their paper-based stockkeeping systems, leading to them having no idea what they had on the shelves (much of which then ended up being way beyond its best-before dates)

Re: Old supermarket signage

What does their new livery look like? If I'm honest off the top of my head I can't remember any other Tesco lorry liveries, apart from the you shop we drop and the one that has a giant Tesco wordmark in Cyan on a blue background Plain white; large Tesco logo; 'funny' slogan in small print, like &qu...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

It's a bit of a dry article, but El Reg are reporting that Asda's IT ( still not yet migrated from Walmart's systems) is to be outsourced to TCS - which sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. https://www.theregister.com/AMP/2024/06/17/asda_tupe_tcs/ The comments are an interesting read too - incl...

Re: Old supermarket signage

I'm a bit disappointed that the new Tesco lorry livery doesn't include their coat of arms, because it's brilliant.
