Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?

I have never understood the government's obsession with wanting to get everyone off gas, considering that it costs nearly 4x as much per kwh to use. Plus, electric stoves (in my experience) are never as good as gas for heat control. It's the carbon, innit. We moved from a gas to an induction hob re...

Also why are SSE's sub-brands Scottish Hydro and SWALEC there under 'smaller firms'? (Twice, in SWALEC's case)

Re: Snack subscription services

I've been subscribing to Graze since they included fresh fruit in their packs, which is a Very Long Time indeed. Every so often I think about saving a bit of cash by cancelling but then they remind me I'm on a grandfathered rate at £3.89 per box instead of £4.49 so I still haven't done it yet. Did y...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Not sure about Citylink coaches up here which is owned jointly by ComfortDelGro/Stagecoach. It's a rather tired looking operation - would be nice to see it branded NX with a better website and apps. National Express previously owned Citylink, but were forced to sell it when they won the original Sc...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?

Bulb didn't do much marketing to start with - beyond the referrals - so they probably worked our that £100-200 was what they'd have spent on brand awareness/TV advertising campaigns for similar results. I doubt it was too outlandish in terms of competitors' customer acquisition costs. I was with the...

Re: Mystery Bags and official food waste thread

yep, I did quite well out of a local Ibis - it was good for a late breakfast on the way into work, but since going vegetarian it's a bit more hit-and-miss what I can get from them. We've got some local trendy coffee shops on the app, and they can be great - one gave me a couple of bottle of homemade...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Yeah, I first got into them when a mate was pinged, and had ordered some groceries on Deliveroo only for them to not deliver the key feature of the meal. Having seen DG's blog post I suggested she tried one, and Weezy delivered. (They also delivered a nice bottle of gin which was included in their h...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Is it just me that thinks Chop Chop is a dreadful brand for that service. It's just as rude an expression as it is to snap your fingers at a waiter isn't it? It just reminds me of a restaurant in Shepherd's Bush with rude staff. I just, I don’t know, I can’t get my head round paying someone to go t...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

The M&S Food in Westfield Stratford is obviously being used as a bit of a flagship - they're shooting the Christmas ad there. (I found a copy of the shooting script lying around there this morning. It's very Percy-heavy.)

Dalston, to be precise.

They're currently running 25% off everything (except booze and baby milk) in all their stores, which is quite the loss leader.
