Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Here's another bit of Asda cost-cutting: they've switched to royalty-free dross on Asda Radio to save on licensing fees. I've not been in a branch lately to experience it but it sounds pretty soul-destroying. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/asda-radio-royalty-free-supermarket-petition-staff-b1182...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Why does the Glasgow Subway still, in 2024, only operate between 10am and the very specific time of 18:12 on Sundays? they claim to allow for longer engineering possessions for "modernisation work", though progress is so glacial I expect by the time they finish the last station they'll ha...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

Oh, and the new Subway trains are quite nice, but given the amount of testing they went through it still feels like there's a few improvements to be made - the acceleration/deceleration isn't as smooth as it feels it could be; and for some reason there's no automated stop announcements: the driver h...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

I'm visiting Glasgow this week, so you get my semi-regular rant about public transport ticketing in the Strathclyde area. the Zonecard, SPT's multi-modal multi-operator ticket has been relaunched. It was previously a paper-based ticket, which would only ever start on a Saturday, and came with a pano...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

I'm quite enjoying seeing the McDonaldland characters back again (though my wife, who has a phobia of Grimace, isn't so much) - but is anyone going to mention the fact that the business is 84 years old, and it's only the 50th birthday of their first UK store?

Re: The Technology Thread

We had a bunch of systems at work affected, but the early shift had them all sorted before most people arrived in the building.

Spotted the forward-facing horse on a billboard outside Blackhorse Road tube today, and kudos to the ad buyers for the placement.

Re: There an election this year.....

I've not seen any detailed analysis of this yet, but in my constituency (and a random sample of other London seats I've looked at) it seems that the Greens were the protest voice of choice - miles behind Labour but comfortably ahead of anyone else. The exceptions seem to be the ones where there were...
