Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

Anyone else find it odd that the Dove Men+Care ad includes not just BBC Sport score graphics, but in one clip BBC watermark suggesting it's been taken from iPlayer?

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

Photos here of the first Sainsbury's store to have been refurbished with the "Fresh Food Market" design. https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/first-look-as-new-sainsburys-layout-unveiled-at-revamped-store-237659/ It's a bit like the fancy store in Pimlico, which has since reverted to ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Gap considers closing all its UK stores I shop there occasionally - it's about the only place I can find jeans that fit - but their sales wind me up. If you wait long enough, they'll do a 40% off everything event, and it does make me wonder how much of a profit margin they must be making out of peo...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

I'm curious to know whether one-way systems in buildings actually makes a difference. Even in a poorly ventilated corridor, is there any evidence of transmission from people walking past each other? Our bulding had an elaborate one-way system (they'd gone as far as getting carpet tiles with arrows p...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I've had various BoS/Halifax accounts for ages (they're basically the same as Lloyds, right?) and found them more competent than my brief experience with RBS, but still a bit annoying. I think the lowlight was opening a child savings account requiring an hour-long branch appointment, including a fin...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

If you're up for it - you can get another £100 opening an Ulster Bank account (provided you haven't received a Natwest/RBS/Ulster offer prior to 1st Sept). Expect the account opening process to be even more drawn out, as they don't have any way of digitally signing stuff. I don't think you can doub...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

This has popped up in the former Mothercare in Westfield Stratford. It looks a little more permanent than you'd think for something that will probably be temporary but I expect this one will be the one they wheel out in front of the press and will perhaps look a bit fancier than other centres acros...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

At about the and time as I opened that Clydesdale Bank account, I also opened an RBS one, for the £100 switching bonus. It took about a week after applying for them to text me a Digital Banking Activation Code, and now I have you wait a further three days to sign in to the mobile app for... reasons....
