Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

AmazonFresh (still clinging on for now?) have doors on their alcohol sections too, but I think that's so they can do their age verification.

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

One of the Tesco Extras near me now has their spirits in a glass cabinet where you need to press a button and wait a few seconds for it to open, is it like this anywhere else? I'm guessing they must have had booze stolen and this, somehow, is meant to help prevent it.

I've seen that in various ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Just saw a TV ad for Halifax bank, with what looked like an updated logo on it - it's no longer stripy and has a new font.

I normally log in to Bank of Scotland's online banking, but had cause to use the Halifax-skinned version of it today, and see that they're still using the old branding on ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

All this supermarket chat being reignited got me thinking - I used to live near a supermarket that started as a Safeway, became a Morrisons, then changed to a Somerfield, and now it’s a Sainsbury’s. Anyone else know of a supermarket going through so many different guises?

Somewhere in the ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

Their adverts have always tended to be quite minimal in their claims - I presume it's because they can't actually advertise the benefits you supposedly get from using the oil on your skin.

A bit like the advert for caffeinated shampoo, which makes no mention of why you might want to put ...

Re: Pres Cafe Watch News and Information Board

Pres Café now has a rule stating that "Pres Café reserves the right to restrict the access of accounts of users who access the forum via anonymous proxy services or VPN."

They already have, haven't they?

I use the Google One VPN on my phone - as far as I know if I'm in the UK it connects via a ...

Re: Adverts that irritate and entertain

was the the kids' bike hire company? The idea is that it saves you the cost of buying a new bike every time your child outgrows the previous one - just rent one and swap it for a bigger one as and when required. The economics can make sense, but a decent kids' bike does hold its value fairly well ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I didn't know you needed a licence for such a thing, but that does explain the one solitary store in Spitalfields.

As I may have mentioned before, AmazonFresh had been reducing their own-label fresh stuff over the last year in favour of a ragtag mix of Morrisons and Booths, though the ambient range ...

There's a lot of Saltires going up round some parts of Glasgow, which we assume are part of the same protest.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Pizza Hut have closed their 'flagship' restaurant in Argyle Street in Glasgow City Centre - meaning you'll no longer be able to stand outside Tim Horton's and sing the Fast Food Rockers song.
