Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

The Tony Hall thread is out of control, with certain forum members effectively bullying others who disagree with their opinion. TV Forum is increasingly becoming an unpleasant place to visit. Glad to see the mods have dealt with it and deleted all the off-topic posts. I've forgotten who made the of...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

I've just read the entirety of the BBC News cuts thread and I think my brains are leaking out of my ears.

Re: Windows 9 is now Windows 10

How's everyone's Windows 7 migrations going? Nicht so gut: https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/22/21076653/microsoft-windows-7-extended-security-updates-german-government-cost-price We still have a bunch of Win7 machines at work, largely due to corporate indecision about whether to buy individual licenc...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

I feel like someone here will know the answer to this: what defines the way a train ticket gets printed? The machine or the issuer? I bought a family ticket from the Virgin Trains website, then collected it from a London Overground machine. It came out as two coupons, the first being an old-style ti...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

It'd cause big problems with connectivity to British Islands if they did go under, I can see why the government would probably want to prop up those parts of the business at least. A lot of the services up here are by Loganair who I've always suspected would just be nationalised and merged into Cal...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Last time I was in Homebase it seemed to be heaving with staff, who were all really helpful and friendly - but being a weekday afternoon, nowhere near the customers to match. It was a good customer experience, but doesn't feel very sustainable.

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

That's a different product actually I could have been clearer that I knew the difference between their premium offering and their Premium offering, but then you wouldn't have given such an excellent potted history of their products! The design of the Platinum card does appear to date from at least ...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

My Aunt still had one of the old chargecards a few years back. I think my mum might still have an M&S chargecard, which stopped making sense about 15 years ago. On a tangent, I love how shit the M&S debit card looks. It's kind of like one of those 'Britain is great' wraparound front pages the Sun o...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I wonder if Primark is going to suffer slightly with a climate-based backlash against fast fashion; or if its core demographic isn't bothered enough to take its business elsewhere.
