Perhaps worth noting that quite a few of these stores have local Post Offices within them, sometimes with separately staffed counters/areas within the store. It is not unheard of for stores to "close" but the post office to continue trading. WHSmith Aldershot for example. Shop closed but ...

WHSmith is laying off its 1500 staff tomorrow. Many experienced managers and supervisors have had the chop. And most high street staff still on furlough will be gone. Most under 18's laid off except in the biggest stores. Small stores now running single manned from Sunday. Mainly 4 hour shifts. 20 ...

The Original Factory Shop shutting some stores with just over 24 hours notice to staff. Looks like some staying open.

H. Young is winding down its "Animal" chain, starting with their Isle of Wight store in September and the rest by early 2021.
