Now all my cards are on my phone, which I always have with me, I can add offers or vouchers to redeem in the app before I do my shop and they automatically apply at the checkout, or I can use points elsewhere easily (for example Nectar at Caffe Nero by generating a QR code in less than a minute ...

I've noticed a few stores have started to get very utilitarian metal displays for produce. On first sight I thought they were left over from the 'misted veg' era but I'm pretty sure they're new.

If I’m going somewhere local I’ll nearly always just take my phone. I pay for practically everything on Apple Pay so the wallet is just clutter. In the event a shop had a fault I could always nip home and get my card.

If I’m heading to another town I’d take my wallet though as a just in case ...
