Re: Windows 9 is now Windows 10

I get the impression that eventually 'new Outlook' will replace 'Outlook Classic'. It looks like Microsoft have a target of April 2026 for this, but will continue to support the 'classic' version until at least 2029. (Annoyingly MS Publisher will no longer be supported from October 2026, but as of ...

This has actually disgsuted me... seriously considering resigning my Labour party membership

Really feels like he's trying to win back the Reform crowd without thinking about how it's alienating everyone else.

I assume you're referring to ...

In fact, almost nowhere uses the magnetic stripe and they will begin being removed from cards altogether imminently:

The exception are cards which aren't traditional credit or debit cards. For example, prepaid high street ...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

So yeah, it's kinda nifty. But. This is not how you simplify things. Make the fares easier to understand in the first place. Let people tap in and out with their bank card - or if they don't want to do that, with a stored value on an ITSO smartcard.

It never fails to amaze me how people can look ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

The M&S app has a ‘scan as you shop’ function for the food hall with Apple Pay integrated, so no need to visit the checkout at all. It’s extremely handy when just nipping in for one or two things at lunchtime when even the self-checkout queues can be lengthy.

What happens when you purchase ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Not entirely sure about that but definitely not in the timescales you're suggesting, and not with the technologies that we know of now either. A decade is nothing, we're over two decades in to SCOs being a thing now (and three since the earliest SAYS type things).

Worth noting that across the ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

It all feels like it’ll be irrelevant in the coming decade anyway. Surely some form of just-walk-out technology will eventually be the norm. RFID feels like the way forward if it can be developed to be smaller / cheaper. Zara use it well for their self checkouts.

Decathlon also use RFID on their ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Personally I'm surprised one of the traditional Big 4 haven't split their estate in half. Their massive expansion in the 00's and 10's have left them extremely confused.

Tesco did try it some years ago by launching Jacks in 2018, I think converting some stores and utilising at least one dormant ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

McDonald's is still fast food, but cooler now.

I love it when my fast food is cold.

The food at the one I visited the other weekend was nice and hot.

I dare say customising the order may help to ensure it's fresh. For example, with chips choosing to have 'no salt'. It may mean waiting ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

With regards to Morrisons one thing has improved in the past year. The cafe now has an '8 item breakfast' option, where you can select what you want. No more having to order the standard breakfast and pay extra for items you want, even if you'd asked to remove a different item.

Also, at my nearest ...
