Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Hasn't Edinburgh Woollen Mill gone bust about a million times before? what does it even sell? EWM's target audience seems to be primarily older people, and their numbers have dwindled over the years as they've died off. There is a range aimed at younger females called Country Rose, and the general ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
Cineworld is closing all of it's cinemas. Supposedly temporarily, but staff will lose their jobs and they do seem to be in a financial pickle... https://variety.com/2020/film/global/cineworld-close-us-regal-uk-cinemas-no-time-to-die-james-bond-1234791728/ It'll be sad if that does happen though not...

Re: Intu takeover called off
The intu in Milton Keynes will be interesting one to see what happens, as it's effectively bolted on to the side of the much bigger Centre:MK shopping centre. Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
I suspect some companies were waiting for the government announcement last Friday about 80% wages being paid by government for companies to retain staff. With John Lewis it's worth noting that they had been struggling prior to Covid-19 (low staff bonus and some store closures already planned). They ...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
The administrators of Beales have announced that over half of their stores (12 out of 23) are to close. Closures include Bournemouth, which was their flagship store. Locally Bedford high street is set to look fairly empty, with the Beales set to close, M&S closing their store last year, and most...
