I would imagine the case of the name displayed on DAB sets is decided entirely by the station in question.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Its knowledge base seems extremely limited at the moment. "How tall is Nelson's Column?" works, but "How tall is the Blackpool Tower?" doesn't.

Sounds like they're victims of the BBC Local 2010 plan, which is a big thing in BBC LR at the moment. Essentially they're trying to make the stations sound more fresh and up-to-date, and shedding the fuddy-duddy, twee image.
