Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

Papa's at Crystal Peaks is next to a relatively new and very popular Wetherspoons, and therefore unsurprisingly it seems empty every time I have seen it. I suspect it will become a Wendy's in time and will do better as one if it does. The Sheffield Arena one lasted only months as a Papa's and looks ...

Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

I think McDonalds probably has the best value meal around with the wrap of the day (£1.99) and equivalent meal, usually around £4.09. I do wonder how long it will last! Other meals have gone up for sure, but it feels to me like KFC has seen the most significant price increases overall. Burger King o...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Tesco seems to be rolling out a EPOS upgrade at the manned checkouts, including a new touchscreen and the larger customer facing display you mention. It seems to be running their own in-house software as it looks extremely similar to the UI on the self-service checkouts, which itself seems to be uni...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

It looks like the prehistoric IBM/Toshiba tills at ASDA are finally being replaced with a new system with an NCR touchscreen - perhaps as part of the decoupling from Walmart.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

It looks like all EG petrol stations will be fully rebranded as Asda, not just the stores themselves. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65720635 That's surely going to mean a noticeable reduction in BP/Shell/Esso/Texaco's presence across the UK. Some of their petrol stations are pretty long in the...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I noticed that Barclays have (finally) introduced support for Google Pay on their debit cards. Barclaycard are also discontinuing their app-based contactless payment feature at the end of June so it seems very likely that they will follow suit.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

SCS have rebranded with a new logo. Their adverts are significantly calmed down with a softer colour palette - no more over-the-top voiceovers or dramatic sale events it seems.

I'd like to sign in but the image verification for the password reset hasn't been working recently. Is there any possibility this could be fixed, please?

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

It's not a brand new concept - there is also one in Manchester near Piccadilly Square and I know of at least one other in London, at Wood Green in Haringey. It does look great, but I can't see it being rolled out anywhere except busy urban areas where there is enough footfall to keep it busy - espec...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

https://www.alamy.com/1996-the-asda-supermarket-at-orgreave-sheffield-south-yorkshire-northern-england-uk-image361572574.html It seems that Asda has been using the booths since at least the 80s, based on that image. That whole set of images is brilliant for some 90s supermarket nostalgia - the store...
