It looks like the prehistoric IBM/Toshiba tills at ASDA are finally being replaced with a new system with an NCR touchscreen - perhaps as part of the decoupling from Walmart.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
It looks like all EG petrol stations will be fully rebranded as Asda, not just the stores themselves. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65720635 That's surely going to mean a noticeable reduction in BP/Shell/Esso/Texaco's presence across the UK. Some of their petrol stations are pretty long in the...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread
I noticed that Barclays have (finally) introduced support for Google Pay on their debit cards. Barclaycard are also discontinuing their app-based contactless payment feature at the end of June so it seems very likely that they will follow suit.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
SCS have rebranded with a new logo. Their adverts are significantly calmed down with a softer colour palette - no more over-the-top voiceovers or dramatic sale events it seems.

I'd like to sign in but the image verification for the password reset hasn't been working recently. Is there any possibility this could be fixed, please?

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
It's not a brand new concept - there is also one in Manchester near Piccadilly Square and I know of at least one other in London, at Wood Green in Haringey. It does look great, but I can't see it being rolled out anywhere except busy urban areas where there is enough footfall to keep it busy - espec...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
https://www.alamy.com/1996-the-asda-supermarket-at-orgreave-sheffield-south-yorkshire-northern-england-uk-image361572574.html It seems that Asda has been using the booths since at least the 80s, based on that image. That whole set of images is brilliant for some 90s supermarket nostalgia - the store...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread
It seems like Sainsbury's only bothers to install Pay at Pump when it's time for new pumps to be installed - most of their stations still seem to have the older blue pumps. ASDA, Morrisons and Tesco seem to be much more consistent with pay at pump across the board (although Asda only seem to put a s...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread
Morrisons have been replacing their prehistoric pay at pump terminals with some new Inventec ones which are far better. I'd say I won't miss inserting my More card into the old terminals 17 times to try and get my points - but those days are gone anyway! Their fuel station near me got new pumps rece...

Meadowhall store yesterday, down to the last scraps of stock: https://up.metropol247.co.uk/woah/thumbs/Deb1.jpg https://up.metropol247.co.uk/woah/thumbs/Deb2.jpg https://up.metropol247.co.uk/woah/thumbs/Deb3.jpg Certainly brought it home that it's finally going - this was actually quite a nice store...
