Re: The Very Official McDonalds (and other fast food outlets) Thread

Presumably, like their other burgers, you can customise away all of the accoutrements for the most authentic taste experience.

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

You're working from a premise that masks had no effect, which is wrong. I work from that premise now, but in July 2020 I had a very open mind on mask wearing and I was happy to do it and trust it would provide the protection claimed. But I expected to see results from it. And any slight doubts I ma...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

Why is there no observable correlation on the ground between wearing masks or not vs what the spread of the virus is doing? The study shows that there is. 1) Why did wearing masks from July 2020 have no effect on preventing a small uptick in cases ballooning into a second wave triggering drastic ac...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

Well research, as always, marches on. Here's something more recent than the ones I posted before: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abi9069 The abstract for that ends "[m]ask distribution and promotion was a scalable and effective method to reduce symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infections.&qu...

Re: Masks

You've posted (a lot) about fearmongering and a lack of optimism, then you say: Sadly, I think so much fear has been spread over the last couple of years, that I wonder if we'll ever truly get out of "the new normal". You cite historical precedent of other pandemics and how there's no evid...

Re: Masks

Your summary at the end is the perfect summation of the negative effects of Twitter. Perhaps it's a good idea to use the tools at your disposal to stop fringe die-hards being amplified into your Twitter timeline - because that's exactly what they are: fringe die-hards. It's not at all representative...

Re: Masks

There's so much nonsense in this post that it's tempting just to pretend it didn't happen, but there's one bit I thought would be easy to check... Ask them why the numbers are 20k less [than "when vaccines didn't exist"] and they say that the vaccine is cutting the spread Which is not true...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Zebra is the one you're after. The second gen Tesco ones are Windows as the main unlock screen still runs Windows CE, and awful it is too. It's some form of terminal server app which is very laggy to the touch and occasinally crashes. yes that's it! They didn't replace the main unlock screens, just...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

The UI of the one I used at Asda looked like this one they've depicted on their website: https://up.metropol247.co.uk/bilky%20asko/Asquith%20Dairies.png Which appears to be a different UI but the same hardware as the second generation Tesco ones you describe. The M&S ones were the ones featured ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

So we now appear to be on the third generations of scan as you shop guns. My tesco, having had them first, held onto the motorola first gen devices with a 2D barcode scanner until about two weeks ago when they were upgraded to the third gen. (Second gen had a 3D scanner and were quicker but had the...

Barclaycard still use Visa, HSBC do too (they seem to have a mixture of the two depending on the card), and I believe Vanquis still use them as well.
