Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

I'm pretty sure the TVM determines how the ticket will be printed.

There was a time when East Midlands Trains' awful collection-only terminals printed in the old style while the normal 'Buy or Collect' TVMs would print in the new style.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

It'd cause big problems with connectivity to British Islands if they did go under, I can see why the government would probably want to prop up those parts of the business at least.

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Bournemouth based Beales department stores at risk of collapse. Not bad for a business that was opening stores last month https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51083396 They're mostly ex-Co-op department stores, presumably paying the Co-op (who still own some of the stores) bugger all in rent. God kn...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Talking of Sainsbury's & Argos, I feel like I say this every year but could 2020 be the year Homebase finally bites the dust? I haven't seen any real signs of recovery...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I had an Egg MasterCard World card, which I used for work expenses back in the day. It was brilliant, generous introductory and ongoing cashback, good travel insurance, missed event ticket cover, extended warranties for electricals and white goods and no fee. The Egg product became Barclaycard Mast...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

HMV continues to be volatile, closing more stores this month due to landlord issues. If Sunrise Records can't make the business viable, then I think it's finally game over for a business reliant on physical media sales. In fairness to Sunrise Records, all these current closures appear to be locatio...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I just hope they don't kill my much nicer looking "Premium" one off yet (closed to new applicants in 2018). The premium offering used to be Tesco Finest branded - posts on their forums suggest that they've been duly renewing them even though they've been long discontinued. The artwork on this page ...

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

Whilst on the subject of returning rancid turkeys to Tesco, has anyone else noticed that they've recently started taking back your Clubcard points when they give you a credit for anything which originally earned points? It never used to happen and was a nice little bonus but they seem to have notic...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

I just hope they don't kill my much nicer looking "Premium" one off yet (closed to new applicants in 2018). I totally agree that the Tesco Premium C/c is one of the best things about Tesco, and is even better now they reduced the annual fee as well as the spend amount to qualify for the clubcard po...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Tesco have suspended applications for their current account - leading to rumblings that they may be pulling out if the banking market entirely. https://www.headforpoints.com/2020/01/08/tesco-suspends-applications-for-its-avios-earning-current-account/ would that include credit cards? Credit cards a...

Re: The Barclays and other non-Lloyds/TSB Bank thread

Looks like Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks forgot that the year had changed - people's wages didn't go into their accounts because of an incorrect date on a computer file. They need to avoid this sort of thing in future if they want their new Virgin Money branding to succeed. https://www.bbc.co.uk/n...
