Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Looks all good, apart from the last image. I think the light boxes and foliage look quite dated. Also, those leaves will look even worse when they are inevitably covered in dust. Dust was my first thought too. I have a feeling they're real plants though as this store in particular is going for an e...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Looks like a christmassy mash up between Primark and Holland & Barrett.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Just read in the paper that Yorkshire and Cyldesdale Banks are being rebranded as Virgin Money. This was announced , widely reported and discussed here a year ago. "Could be the end of the brands" - that's speculation. The fact it's actually happening is new news. No it isn't - https://www.theguard...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

So much for the reprieve. Hull House of Fraser is closing after all. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/house-of-fraser-hull-store-2980908 Interesting, but not surprising sadly. I went around the shops in Birmingham yesterday for the first time in a while. I went to that ...

It'll be interesting to see how they roll things out to the smaller stores. One of their perennial problems has always been that signage is designed for big stores and then rammed into the tiny high street pharmacies.
It also looks pretty shit in older large locations with low ceilings.

Re: Front door legalities

Agreed, as long as you have something with the official number on I'm sure you'd be fine. Incidentally, I live on a number 2 of a street, with 2A and 2B to my left as I open my front door and 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F to my right. I really wish the council or whoever divided up the original 2 plot in a more...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

Pharmacies operate on a license type deal don't they, whereby the pharmacy has to prove to the NHS that the Pharmacy will in some way fill a gap in demand? Hence why newer ones tend to open late at night, so they can prove they provide a service not already available. When Boots surrender their lice...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

So these replicate the functionality of the QuickPay machines that existed in the larger stores - many of which they've now closed. It did surprise me that there wasn't any self pay option as it seemed to be a backwards step. Except they also let you browse the catalogue and put together an order w...

Re: The Co-op Thread

I've observed it in multiple branches, including brand new ones. There is a white on blue version too. It appears to be a placeholder when they are missing a slide to display. Presumably baked in to the software in some inconvenient way.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

I'm confused - last time I was in an Argos I browsed on a tablet then ordered and paid on a separate touchscreen device. Obviously combining the two is an innovation, but how does that make this the first self-service store? Do they mean it's no longer possible to order and pay at a manned checkout...
