Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Sad they're ditching the green. The new logos just look like M&S.

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

HSBC, fresh from the success of their 'groundbreaking' rebranding as HSBC UK over here, are rolling out some far more lovely bank cards - annoyingly, just one week after I received a new one. http://d3bgx3hadoaatz.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/HSBC_lion_3.jpg I really, really like it (best desig...

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

Morrisons is closing 23 stores - property writedown taking its toll then.

Not surprised that the misting machines are on their way out. The last time I was in a Morrisons, it just had an enormous crowd of old women stood around it complaining that it was making the vegetables smell funny.

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

I should maybe add that this one is a Local, albeit apparently one that's over 3000 sq ft, because it's only open for 6 hours on a Sunday. This is the new one in East Village, yes? It's very annoying that they've decided to make it just large enough to close at 5pm on Sundays. It does have a very M...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

New logo for M&S Saw it on a print advert this morning and assumed it was an anniversary-linked thing but according to their Facebook page it's here to stay. Despite them saying that it wasn't going to be used in stores, they're busy fitting this branding all over White City. Looks nice - part ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Nope. The only thing stopping you from scanning a packet of chewing gum and putting 15 bottles of whisky in your bag is your own conscience. But as I say, I'd argue that's the case anyway since it doesn't take a genius to think about how one might circumvent the scales... Definitely targeting the l...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Looks nice but they've gone round refurbishing tons of stores recently and now they've done that they're rebranding - which seems a shame. It's not for stores - just campaigns and print ads according to this in Design Week . It makes sense to try and style food and fashion ads in a similar way I su...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Tooley Street is where they launch all their concepts - the bakery is a real, independent artisan brand that Tesco "let" space to, I believe (they have it in the Extra in Kensington too) - but Harris + Hoole is a 49%-Tesco-owned subsidiary. The Guardian are outraged . http://media.tumblr.c...

Re: Coffee

I've always been a coffee drinker, and I'm a trained barista. But even though I drink loads, I have to stick to decaf after about 4pm or I stay awake far too long. On a similar note, I bought a Nespresso macine a few days ago (which takes coffee capsules) - I was expecting it to taste like shite to ...

Re: The Tesco & Other non-Morrisons Supermarket Thread

Tesco's shares have fallen 15%, reportedly wiping over £4b from the value of the company. BBC News. This is in response to disappointing sales figures over the Christmas period.

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

The Sainsbury's Local near my mother's house has just gone from white to the new burgundy/grey, with a refresh inside as well. They stock about twice as many products now but apparently they've installed what she calls 'London- style' tills - basically, they've squeezed them in so tightly that there...
