Re: New PetePhone
I spent ages reading the Help to see if there was an excel forumla that added zeros to the start of the numbers - got it wrong several times, ending up with decimal points and suchlike; then gave up and amended all the numbers manually. =CONCATENATE("0",A1) Where A1 is the cell with the p...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand
I doubt ECML will bother with a complete new colour scheme, it will be enough to remove the national express lettering and grey lines, slap the new logo on the white strip of the GNER blue trains. If it's govt run, they won't bother spending more than they have to will they?

Re: The 'I just don't get it' thread
Farmville Now naturally, I understand why people get so engrossed in online social gaming, particularly with richly detailed simulations or MMORPGs. But Farmville et al are so crushingly shallow and dull, I can't understand why people willingly sink hours of their spare time into it. It's not as if...

Re: Generic vacuum cleaner recommendation
I thought the Argos Value vac was good, but only the first couple of times I used it. I now hate the thing as it's cumbersome and takes several attempts to pick up stuff. When I can afford it, I'm getting a Henry again after having one in my old student house. They really can't be beat for value for...

Re: Adverts which irritate and entertain
It's so brief I'm never sure if I've imagined it, but are CSL sofas trying to invoke the memory of Bjork's lesbian robots in the endcap of the latest ad? Only, being more edgy cos they look like boy robots like Sonny.

According to the internet, no, it was worse than Hitler. But in the real world it was quite yaysome.

Wish I had a botnet, seems like a more effective way of making many PCs do what they're told than fathoming out why I can't get group policies to stick on the company LAN

Re: Internet Explorer 8 (final) is out
If your IE8 is running slow and you have Spybot installed, try de-immunizing and disabling the SDHelper wotsit, as there's some sort of conflict with them. I did this on both an XP and a Vista pc and it works a treat.
