Re: Conservatives

So only Big companies can offer services to communities, and profit is essential to good society???? What has the UK government got to do with jobs in India? And while we are at it, if it wasn't for Thatcherism, and the thirst for greed and profit, companies wouldn't need to hire cheap labour abroa...

Re: Is the Scottish Express even worse than the Mail?

I didn't get through most of that blog post, started veering off into two wrongs make a self-righteous right territory. That isn't entirely unfair, but I think there are a few key differences. IMHO the blog is purely a response to her article and exists to question her professional integrity rather...

Re: Digital Spy Watch News and Information Board

Typical Simon Luxton - moans about too much sport and then moans at Sky for keeping it all away from his reach. Its not that he's "full of contradictions" so much as its just he's a bloody idiot. He does add a little spice - he takes a subject and randomly applies one of his core views (c...

Re: Digital Spy Watch News and Information Board

Simon is on top form over at DS. His prudish irrational hatred of sex shops has been highlighted in Are sex shop owners still having a hard time? . Then in a thread he started himself (sourced from Ceefax [double source - Teletext]) on school kids not being allowed to leave the school at lunchtime (...

Re: Should there be an increase in tax on alcohol?

I suspect that within the next 5 years we'll find that more than half the money we earn actually goes to the Government, one way or another. It already does. Anything up to 40% is docked off the wage packet, then you have all the VAT which in turn goes to the government. So, pretty much already, ha...

Re: Bring back...

Whether you smoke or not, there is no getting around that fact. If smoking is cause of all these dangers to everyone, why have "smoking-related" diseases shot up when the number of people smoking has halved? Can you please answer that question? There are a whole myriad of reasons why that...

Re: The price of bread

After a chilly run up to the top of the road I see that Scotmid are closed! Och well, its pasta with butter and black pepper til tomorrow, or perhaps rice 'n' peas (which I just remembered I have). But first I'm going to have some crispy onion rings. I really must check the freezer more often! For ...

Re: A rather strange email

ATTENTION: Any people who received an email with a link to this site. Hi, I have just found out that someone I hired to do some advertising for me sent an email to several users (I don't know how many exactly) from another forum which is unknown to me with a link to this site, and as a result some ...

Re: Paternoster

Yes, in fact I used the very one shown in this clip regularly for three years (it's in the Attenborough Tower - named after Dave and Rich's dad - at Leicester Uni)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXSnNzGJDdg I never thought of it as a big deal, really. I've also used that very Paternoster for thr...
