Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

I must be getting middle-aged and grumpy in my online life, as I genuinely can't stand the posting style of the teenagers who have signed up over the last month or two (thinking of three or four people in particular). I know it's the done thing to long for some mythical glory days, but return TVF to...

Re: Baffling local news stories

Not a story, but curious local newspaper decision to print tweets, complete with URLs of images... https://up.metropol247.co.uk/tillyoshea/visiter.jpg We have a very low-budget local magazine in these parts which does the same. It leads to utterly nonsensical stuff being published, such as one from...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

I received an email from Abellio Greater Anglia yesterday informing me that the franchise is going back to being known as Greater Anglia from 2am on 16th October. This coincides with the new franchise period that they have won. So in the last 12 years, we've had: One, National Express East Anglia, G...

Re: The Co-op Thread

In Ipswich, in at least two normal Co-ops they've closed a small Co-op funeralcare has opened in its place, which seems slightly odd - is there demand for a funeralcare service around the corner? Worth pointing out that the dedicated Funeral Planning and Chapel of Rest buildings that were on Caldwe...

Re: The BIG MetroPoll - IN or OUT ?

So we're now in the situation after Boris not putting himself up for the leadership where a Remainer could be the PM negotiating to get out of the EU. I'm in favour of that tbh. We want now to get a sensible negotiation going - no silly, overblown rhetoric of the UKIP style (or even the rightwards ...

Re: The BIG MetroPoll - IN or OUT ?

These are the last days of the Labour party. People said that as Foot was on the way out. Thatcher believed it. The question is, though, will there be another Blair who can reposition the party as one for the people, rather than just a lefty protest party? What British politics is missing right now...

Re: File Sharing Solution

You could take out some cPanel powered hosting (I recommend Namecheap) - cPanel has a very easy to use web interface for password protecting folders and uploading files. You could buy a .xyz domain for about 12p to use in conjunction with that. Apache is usually set up to list all the files within ...

http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/watch-woman-bitten-after-capturing-snake-on-the-loose-in-cheltenham/story-29454443-detail/story.html So a snake turned up in Waitrose Cheltenham. And a mad lady went to collect it, and it bit her in front of other customers, but she's not bothered as she's mice a...

File Sharing Solution

Hello Metro-team! Forgive me for clogging the forum with an IT request, but I know we have many knowledgable people on here. I'm investigating a file-sharing solution for work - for boring internal reasons, our IT people are unwilling to implement a password-protected page on our website for us to s...
