Re: The OFFICIAL* Metropoll election sweepstake

The plain truth is that people just get bored of Governments. The problem is that they don't see the Tories as being all that different from the incumbents, which explains why their poll ratings are pretty unimpressive. I don't think you should expect a Tory landslide. I would expect them to win but...

Re: The OFFICIAL* Metropoll election sweepstake

Trouble is that the Tories really need a 10pc lead to even get a majority. It's hard to stress what sort of task they have. First they have to hold every seat they have already (about 200), and with expenses scandals rumbling on, that's not guaranteed; secondly they have to win over another 100 seat...

Re: The Official Windows 7 Thread

Out of curiosity... "As a Mac owner" I am not au fait with windows 7. But I do have Vista installed on my Mac because some of my work software is not Mac compatible. More fool me. I love the Mac for graphic design stuff I do and it's very pretty and the like, but come the next few months I...

Re: Murdoch's web policy

If you take his argument to (I think) it's logical conclusion, he's saying "anything that is reported in the Times/Sun/WSJ can only be reported in the Times/Sun/WSJ". So if the Times were to get an exclusive about, say, troops numbers in Afghanistan; or the Sun were to get an exclusive abo...

Re: Generic vacuum cleaner recommendation

What's wrong with an old brush? Or one of those floor sweepers that don't need any electricity? I was gifted with a Bosch when I moved into posh new flat, but it was a 'bag' one. When the bag got full I went to Argos with the intention of buying a set of new bags. Couldn't work it out, however, and ...

Re: Google Wave

marksi - I got a Macbook :) I have the beta Chrome for Mac but to be honest firefox is so quick on my laptop that I don't need Chrome. I only use it at work. Although bizarrely I have ended up with four computers - two at work, a work laptop, and a home laptop. So most of the time I don't know what ...

Re: Google Wave

Well I have exceeded your expectations already. Here I am again. We have Onenote and Office Live Workspace but honestly I can't be arsed using either. We mostly just print everything out, meet for coffee, and change everything face to face. Much more productive and the caffeine helps with concentrat...

Re: Google Wave

This whole thing completely baffles me. It seems like a cross between IM, email, and document collaboration. Thing is, if like me you work for an organisation that lives, breathes, eats, and frequently dies Microsoft then you already have all of this - Communicator, Outlook, Live Office, or Office L...

New London 2012 Logo

The new-look London Olympics logo is being unveiled later on today. Previews have been emailed around already, and if you want a quick look... http://www.london2012.com/about-newlook-video.html I warn you now, if you've got epilepsy you will not want to watch (especially towards the end). I think it...

Don't bother, Mr Scott. It will be hugely expensive and it has been designed with the American market in mind - i.e. a lot of attention paid to the 'business' side of things, and with QWERTY keyboard, wide design, etc. The fact that it has only a 2mp camera is indicative of the fact that it hasn't r...
