Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

I used SmartShop for the first time at the Sainsbury's Local at York Station. Having a phone case with a flap made it extremely inconvenient to use the scanning app. Then having to scavenge a bag from a self-service checkout made it feel more like I was doing something illicit, and then bagging up ...

My rarely used TSB debit card is still a visa. They were due to move to Mastercard before the IT meltdown iirc? Never has reared it’s head again.

Re: Yet another Morrisons thread

My local branch of McColl's closes down on Wednesday, reopening eight days later as a Morrisons Daily. Apparently that's happening nationwide, they plan to convert 350 stores in the next 14 months. https://www.conveniencestore.co.uk/your-business/mccolls-to-focus-on-morrisons-daily-offer/658900.art...

Re: Public Transport in your particular part of the region

I wonder whether the rebranding and sell off of Xplore Dundee (formerly NX Dundee, formerly Travel Dundee) was done with the stagecoach merger in mind. Or if it’s just coincidence. Dundee being the only place where both brands operate although strictly speaking “strathtay” is really the Angus countr...

Re: Fuel situation in your area

I topped my tank up (it was just under half full) at Tesco yesterday. Got straight to a pump without queuing although I've often thought Dundonians are a hard to panic people... the toilet roll lasted a lot longer here originally. Asda however was coned off and the totem was disabled so no prices we...

Re: Energy bills: How spanked will YOU get?

I'm with Bulb which is also at risk of going under. TBF although the increase in wholesale energy is the thing that pushed them over I'm not sure how viable these businesses ever were (or at least, how resilient they would be in the event of something like a big increase in wholesale). Bulb built i...

Re: Mystery Bags and official food waste thread

Yes how does stuff like this work for vegetarian / vegan / gluten free? Is it just luck of the draw? I assume unless somewhere has a fairly large amount of waste they can't really separate their magic bags into ones for certain diets. Unless that is they're a dedicated vegan (or whatever) outlet whi...

Mystery Bags and official food waste thread

So I've recently signed up for the TooGoodToGo app which lets you hunt down end of day food at knock down prices. The first day I'd got a bag from Starbucks for £3.50 which included a tuna panini, a salad, and a cinnamon bun. Which is value for money but not amazing food bc Starbucks food is crap an...

Re: The Unofficial Sainsbury's Thread

I've seen a Scottish one called Snappy Shopper but never used any of these as I live across the road from a Tesco. Quite interesting to see those delivery fees are quite low compared to Sainsbury's £4.99 flat fee . Orders placed using the phone, bike delivery and high prices. Arkwright & Granvi...
