Re: Coronavirus - Strange times

A bit puzzled by how much business coverage on the effects of the Coronavirus seems to involve comment on Pret. I know their business is badly affected by office workers no longer buying lunch and coffees, but so many independent shops, cafes, newsagents, dry-cleaners etc. are all facing the same i...

M&S rail station stores have been closed until a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing on the same basis, but I’d have thought in the last couple of months there’d be enough traffic to survive...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I think the most interesting thing to note there is that Tesco will be opening a new supermarket branch... that's been a pretty rare occurrence in the last 5 years! I think it was inevitable since they cut the number extras that were open 24hrs (before lockdown) that the next step would be reducing...

Re: TV Forum Watch News and Information Board

Well well well... how the turn tables... The turn tables only normally appear on the weekends - it's really unusual for them to appear on a Monday evening. I don't think they're all that good anyway - there's certainly been better in that slot before. maybe they're trying them out for the ten?

Re: The Tesco & other non-Morrisons supermarket thread

So big Tesco have replaced their self scan screens with the new ones. However the tills themselves are clearly still fastlane 5 models but have the glossy, thin bezel monitor from the v6 on them. I'd noticed the old LCDs were increasingly faded and worn out so presume NCR can't get hold of the older...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake

I was told the Dundee city centre Argos (the one in the Overgate centre, after they closed the second one in the Wellgate) will reopen on 7 September. Only the one at Sainsburys (at the far end of the city) has been open since lockdown.

It's also kicking off in the requests forum that nobody's sharing music any more like it's some god-given right to be able to download every piece of BBC News music composed ever.
I blame that awful megathread that barcrud started

Just realised these bags are now history, for which I am thankful.
They've also corrected the slogan on their new, classier green food bags (removing the 'any').
Oh they're much nicer, and the use of proper M&S green is a nice touch. The new sparks logo using the super retro & is really good too.
