Re: What device do you general browse (and particularly post to) Metropol on?
Nearly always my laptop to browse any forums. In terms of browser, I've recently discovered Brave and haven't looked back. Really fast to use and I haven't seen an ad for a fortnight. If you’ve got a little bit of time, and maybe a little bit of patience to set it up, I recommend https://pi-hole.ne...

I’m the same as cdd pretty much; casual browsing is done on phone or ipad, desktop pc and laptop tends to be for work, content creation or software development, although as said, if I’m entering any lengthy amount of text, I’ll use either a laptop or desktop.

Re: New old games
I loved those games!
I had the Desktop Dynamite A1200 which included Oscar.
Dennis The Menace sucked if I recall.
So Mario All Stars came out for the Switch?
I am tempted but really disappointed that two of the three games run in 4:3 ratio...

Every now and then, I'll read or hear something about this case which will send me on a wild internet goose chase, were i will spend hours trying to validate or find another angle on something. Over the years, my feelings on this have almost gone full circle; at the start I felt Barry George was the...

Re: New old games
Don’t forget Sonic Mania! I got a switch, don’t have loads of time to play on it, but recommend Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Crash Team Racing I hate FPS / violent games - not because I have any ideological objection, just never really enjoyed them. I was amazed when I first played Doom back in the ...

Re: Coronavirus - Strange times
One of the things I can’t understand is face coverings... I assume WHO and the government are just going along with telling people to wear them for psychology reasons only? I mean, surely if you can smell the fart which came from the man standing in front you through your face covering, it is going ...

Re: Front door legalities
are you sure it's a legal requirement to display your house number? i have lived for many years in a house without a number... never had an issue, mind you, the ones either side 101, 105 etc. i can't imagine any local authorities have the resources to investigate such trifles - the local authority u...

Re: High Street chain collapse sweepstake
probably a good time to make some predictions about which retailers will kick the bucket in 2019. I'm going to ignore HMV - i can't imagine there is really a viable business left, or worth investing in now - that said, i think what is a surprise to most people is that it limped on as long as it did....

Christmas lights
i absolutely love christmas lights. i remember as a child being mesmerised by the warm glow of our christmas tree with it's 20 or so little incandescent screw in bulbs casting all those strange shadows and shapes on the wall and ceiling - and that's the thing, as much as i love led lighting, most le...

Obscure connector
Hello everyone, My sister stumbled across this connector, and asked me what it was... after spending several hours googling, I can't find anything which quite matches... it was in amongst some military stuff, but not sure if that is a red herring. it has B1970 imprinted on the side and the central p...
