Re: The EU

Sput, I had no particular issue with your point in your earlier post - i.e. the oft-cited fact that " [there's not been] a war between the major powers for a generation in Europe". You said that this is 'widely credited to the formation of the EU'. It is indeed widely credited to it. But whether the ...

Re: The EU

One other thing widely credited to the formation of the EU: We've not had a war between the major powers for a generation in Europe. That's something of a historical rarity.
Yes, and compared to the terrific cost of such wars the EU is very cheap.

Are you seriously implying that following WW2 ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Dragging this back off-topic, whats "above and beyond the top grades at A-level"? I'm not convinced by your reasoning because they're such a one dimensional metric: some people (*hiyaa*) will have worked hard at poor schools to get *reasonable* but not outstanding grades and thrive at university ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

Depends what you want from a university. When I looked for somewhere to study a web computing discipline there were only a handful of institutions offering such courses, and less still offering sandwich courses. Off the top of my head, one was Nottingham Trent, who I discounted immediately because ...

Re: Another High Street Rebrand

It's laughable. As if a fashionable logo will make Sheffield Hallam anything other than what it is : a subpar 'university'.

Re: Play.com / Parcelfarce

I phoned play.com up, and they were very helpful. Said that Parcelforce have lost the item in the post and have failed to respond to their claim but that they would do the refund immediately and it's come up in the order history section.

I would strongly advise against using Parcelforce - have ...

Play.com / Parcelfarce

Hello, I don't post here very often. Thought I'd share a little horror story with you.

On the 17th January I decided to buy an iPod nano for £120 from play.com. It's ten pounds cheaper than Apple's price, free delivery, and we've never had any problems from play before. I placed the order that ...

You look a bit Cool.

The smiths! Really? You into Razor blades and paracetamol too?
Lol, certainly not no! I know a few people who would like to think they are though.
Such a shame they split up in 1987. Maybe a Morrissey and Johnny Marr reunion one day?

I'm 16, and although I do see a lot of idiots around, I do think a lot of people overlook the majority. A lot of teenagers do actually respect their elders. I'm not spoilt either, I don't live in a particularly affluent area, it's a suburb of Birmingham, but not everyone here is the same. The word ...
